Hey there!

I’m Diane Byron

I’m a speaker, author, and a truly transformational coach for midlife mothers that are ready to move from stuck to unstoppable so they can reinvent the next chapter of the lives.

What I know for sure is this:

EVERY woman who wants to reinvent herself, gets to do that.

You get to:

  1. have an identity beyond what you do for others, or who you’ve been up until now.

  2. rediscover the incredible woman you’ve always been, but maybe forgot.

  3. have your own dreams, and not just think about them, but create them.

  4. be valued for your contributions while valuing yourself.

Reinvention, especially in midlife, starts with one radical thing: Permission.

My midlife reinvention all started with

recognizing that I could give myself permission to dream.

For 20+ years, dreaming felt like something other

people got to do, but not me. Who was I to have a “dream” beyond raising a healthy daughter, getting by doing something I didn’t totally hate, and simply being grateful for all that I already had?

Yet, if I dared to be honest with myself, I felt stuck in the safety of what I already knew. The tried and true path had left me feeling lonely, overwhelmed, exhausted, and secretly resentful. On the outside I was playing super-mom, but on the inside I didn’t even know who I was anymore. I felt invisible.

Here’s what I knew for a fact: I was great at taking care of everyone else, but I had stopped taking care of me. And I pretended for a long time that that was enough, but by the age of 47 I knew something had to change. And for the first time in my life, I knew I couldn’t do it all on my own.

Unstoppable Heart

I was born with a broken heart. No, literally. I was brought into this world having a heart defect with a less than optimistic survival rate… the idea of thriving simply wasn’t a part of the picture.

But, being a Bostonian born to highly optimistic parents, I had a drive to live. Through a sequence of miraculous events, my broken heart was mended and I lived.

By the age of 7, I was told something I would never forget: “you were saved for a reason.”

That was a heavy thing to be told so early on in life by a bunch of nuns, but it stuck with me. So much so that it saved me 40 years later.

Life became a sense of duty, and filling the role that was required of me became my number one focus. Join the Navy, get married, have a traditional career, start a family. And suddenly that passion and drive I had for life slowly shifted into the routine which nearly killed me (again, quite literally).

I got stuck in the doing (and overdoing) inside of a dream I thought was my ultimate, and best life. But, I could sense there was something more… and that scared the living hell out of me.

It was incredibly difficult to see any other possibility because I only knew what I knew. I knew how to be a mom. I knew nursing. I knew how to support others.

What I didn’t know (which I later mastered) was how to take care of ME. And I knew that if I wanted the next chapter of my life to be fulfilling, energizing, and inspiring I had to give myself permission to learn how.

And so, I hired a coach who introduced me to the idea of possibility. And I started to remember who I had been before I forgot.

Those words from my 7 year old self started to ring in my ears. “You were saved for a reason.” Only this time, I didn’t feel it as a burden or an excuse to sacrifice my own needs and desires.

I realized that if I really wanted to support the people around me, I got to fill my own cup and live the life I was born to live. To remember that I was born with an unstoppable heart!

Shaking in my boots, I started to take some risks and recall old dreams that fell to the wayside. And boy, did I source some opportunities that made me truly create the possible out of the impossible. But this time, I was ready.

I quit the job that was no longer serving me, not knowing what I would do next.

I was diagnosed with Cancer and made it my non-negotiable reason to change my life.

I put my house on the market, and decided to move across the country to sunny San Diego ( a dream I had when enlisting into the Navy).

I took back my maiden name, and reinvented what it meant to be me.

This was just the beginning.

Since my cross-country move, I’ve created miracles where I could have easily remained the victim. And it didn’t stop with me.

I have since supported hundreds of people in connecting with their dreams to rediscover their own confidence and power so they can live with an unstoppable heart, too.

I started Unstoppable Heart Coaching to give midlife mothers the long-awaited permission to rediscover their dreams and courageously write the next chapter of their lives.

Diane has a very unique and powerful way of helping people reframe those times in their lives that are just so hard and painful, into an experience to be grateful for. It is in this reframing that now they can use that pain to fuel a new beginning, to create something even bigger and better than they ever thought themselves capable of. I have watched her do this with clients over and over again.  She is a masterful coach.

Diane has a heart of gold! She serves authentically and boldly. She loves you so much she will tell you what you need to hear not always what you want to hear AND that's the kind of powerful leadership that brings total heart healing and transformation! You can trust her wholeheartedly.

Diane is extraordinary. She walked me through one of the most painful moments of my life with a lot of love, patience and compassion. Few weeks ago she helped me have another huge breakthrough. Her coaching approach is heart centered. I feel safe, understood, loved and guided with her. Trust me, you can't be in better hands! Thank you for everything Diane!

- Alina Afa

Diane is one of a kind. Her wisdom, life experience, and ways of being have created a powerful and inspiring coach. I learned early on to have her record our sessions because pure magic flows in a coaching session with her. She inspires and guides me to reach my goals that align with my vision for my life. She taught me to be conscious and present to the question: “Does this serve me”? I can say without a doubt that investing in myself with Diane as my guide has been incredibly worthwhile! A resounding YES, working with Diane has, and continues to serve my highest good.

This title brings tears to my eyes when i think of the hundreds of people I’ve supported to see their potential and live life to the absolute fullest. Talk about a DREAM job!

Dog Walker

****************************

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love walking my dog. I’ve probably got more pictures in my phone of my dog than my kid! If you’re wondering what I’m doing right now, likely, I’m out with Buddy strolling around San Diego.

Author

I’m currently writing my memoir “Unstoppable Heart: From Surviving to Thriving” to inspire others to create new possibilities for themselves despite almost unbelievable circumstances. This is one of my biggest goals to date!

Friend

There’s nothing I cherish more than relationships. Over the years I’ve learned that nothing fills your cup quite like having a circle of like-minded people who can hold you high. I love being the supportive friend in everyone’s corner.

Risk Taker

When someone says it can’t be done, I go and do it! From going into the Navy with a heart defect to hiking across the Grand Canyon with stage 3 cancer, I always find a way to show myself the joy in doing things that just don’t make sense.
